The Global Citizenship Forum is organizing the “2026 Summer Vacation Korean Culture Tour” on Friday, July 31, in Goyang and Paju, Gyeonggi Province. The program is designed to bring together families from diverse cultural backgrounds to experience the heart of Korea’s modern industry while fostering global citizenship at the front line of history.

Participating families will begin their tour at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, a place of innovation in the global automotive manufacturing industry.

They will then travel along Jayuro to visit the Odusan Unification Observatory, the northernmost observatory in South Korea. Through these visits, participants will enjoy a multifaceted cultural experience where cutting-edge technology and the grandeur of the Korean Peninsula’s history come together.

The first stop on the tour is Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, a place of innovation where visitors can explore the past, present, and future of Korea’s automotive industry. Through a firsthand look at next-generation manufacturing technologies and visually engaging media art, participating families will share rich cultural experiences that transcend language barriers while cultivating an attitude of mutual respect, consideration, and inclusion.

The tour then continues along Jayuro to Odusan Fortress in Paju, a strategic site that encompasses some of the Korean Peninsula’s most dramatic historical moments—from the glory of Goguryeo, the rivalry among the Three Kingdoms, and Silla’s counteroffensive that drove back the Tang forces, to the present-day reality of national division. Just as the waters of the Hangang and Imjingang rivers, gathered from valleys across the land, flow together to become one, Odusan Mountain also symbolizes that the South and the North are ultimately one community that cannot be divided. 

At the frontline observatory, participants will witness Korea’s industrial achievements while reflecting on the reality of the Korean Peninsula’s division from multiple perspectives, developing a spirit of global citizenship grounded in the values of mutual coexistence and peace.

This camp has been designed to explore three core values: respect for cultural diversity, experiencing innovation in modern industry, and reflection on the reality of the Korean Peninsula’s division and the value of peace.

Permanent exhibition tour featuring Hyundai Motor Company’s future technologies, and a guided tour of the Odusan Unification Observatory to learn about the pain of national division and the value of peace (Summer Camp activity of the Global Citizenship Forum School of Culture and Arts)

5. Eligibility: Families from diverse cultural backgrounds (both Korean families and families with a migration background are welcome to participate.)

- Children: Elementary and middle school students

- Priority Selection: Two-person family applications (parent-child)

- Accompanying Guardian: If a parent is unable to attend, another adult guardian (such as an aunt, uncle, or other relative) may accompany the child.

6. Fee: Free of charge (includes round-trip charter bus transportation, travel insurance, admission tickets, docent program, hands-on activities, and lunch)

How to Apply: Please submit applications by center or organization, with participating families applying together. (We appreciate the interest and cooperation of staff at participating centers and organizations.)

- Application Limit: Up to four families may apply per center or organization.

- Exception: Families who are unable to apply through their affiliated center or organization may apply individually. (Please note that individual applications may be given lower priority during the participant selection process.)

※ The detailed schedule is subject to change depending on on-site conditions, weather, or other circumstances.

○ Important Notes

1) All activities are provided free of charge.

2) Participation in the program requires your consent to the collection and use of personal information.

3) Travel insurance will be arranged by the organizer for all participants.

4) The meeting point and bus boarding location will be provided in the participation confirmation and information messages.

5) The bus will depart as scheduled. Participants who arrive late due to personal circumstances will be considered absent.

6) If you are unable to participate after receiving the participation confirmation on Tuesday, July 21, please notify us by Wednesday, July 22. If you are absent without prior notice, your participation in future events and programs organized by the Global Citizenship Forum may be restricted.

7) The program will be conducted in Korean. A satisfaction survey will follow the program.

8) Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers suitable for activities.

9) If needed, please bring your own drinking water, motion sickness medication, or other personal items.

10) Photos, videos, and other media materials taken during the program may be used for future promotional purposes by the Global Citizenship Forum.
