🔍2025 Seoul Family Report Highlights🔎
: Chapter 2 [Supporting Daily Life]
What do Seoul families think, and how do they behave?
We've picked out just the highlights
so you can quickly get a glimpse of
the 2025 Seoul Family Report:)
Seoul citizens were asked
how important various housing factors are,
and how sufficient they felt their family time was
for raising children in Seoul.
Let's take a look at the results together!
Respondents were asked
how important various aspects of the housing environment
are for families raising children in Seoul (range: 1–5).
Seoul residents aged 20–64 highly rated the importance of
"safety (e.g., security, public safety, pollution, hazardous facilities)" (average 4.5)
and "housing stability (e.g., long-term residency potential, homeownership)" (4.3).

Respondents with a spouse were asked
how sufficient they felt the time spent with their spouse was.
The results showed
a lack of sufficient time with spouse
during the preschool and elementary school stages.
Among respondents with children,
sufficiency of time spent with their children
was surveyed (range: 1–5).
The results showed
that parents felt a lack of time with their children
during the adolescent and adult stages.

In fact, families with adolescent or adult children
reported spending relatively limited time together
as a whole family
— including shared moments
like family mealtimes.
In summary, the result of 2025 Seoul Family Survey implies
that resolving housing instability for unmarried young adults
may be directly linked to addressing the low birth rate issue.
Moving beyond marriage-based housing policies,
expanding support to meet the diverse needs of
young adults is necessary.
Also, the nature of family time
can vary depending on the child's developmental stage,
highlighting the need for tailored family time support programs
for each stage.
